Marketing Manager – Romania
Are you a senior marketing leader with a true passion for sport, and in particular football? Then this could be the perfect opportunity for you. Our client is one of the global leaders in sports betting and holds a major market share in the Romanian market. They are sponsors of FCSB Steaua Bucharest and the Romanian cup. In this role, you will be responsible for owning the marketing strategy for Romania, which will include leveraging these sponsorship agreements. You will lead your own direct team of marketing professionals, alongside utilising centralised resources to execute your marketing plan. You will manage a high value marketing budget, one of the largest in the Romanian betting industry.
The role
Our client is looking to hire a senior marketing leader for this position, someone experienced at Head of Marketing or Marketing Director level. Experience of the sports betting industry isn’t essential. It’s more important that you hold a true passion for sport and football, and bring transferable B2C marketing skills from industries such as FMCG, Ecommerce, Sports Entertainment, or Telco as examples.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and lead the execution of the marketing strategy for Romania
- Manage the annual marketing budget, ensuring cost-effective campaigns
- Lead media campaigns, partnerships, digital marketing, affiliate marketing and performance marketing
- Build partnerships with local media agencies and sports entities
- Ensure compliance with Romanian regulations regarding advertising and promotions
- Monitor key KPIs such as CAC, LTV, customer engagement, and brand visibility and brand awareness
- Drive growth through data-driven campaigns, reducing CAC, and increasing LTV with personalized retention strategies
- Strengthen the company’s position as a top betting operator via impactful sponsorships, partnerships, and brand-building initiatives
- Optimize budget allocation and campaign performance to maximize ROI and scalability
- Lead multi-channel digital strategies integrating online and offline efforts
- Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing marketing team aligned with business goals
- Build a collaborative working relationship between teams placed in different locations
- Ensure all marketing activities comply with Romanian laws and industry standards.
Background/Experience
- A minimum of 4 years in marketing leadership roles, ideally in the betting, gaming. sports entertainment, FMCG, Ecommerce, or Telco industries
- Proven track record in managing large-scale campaigns and partnerships
- Experience with media management, brand construction, digital marketing, and performance marketing
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working & engaging in a cross-functional environment
- Strategic and analytical thinking
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent understanding of the Romanian market and consumer behaviour
- Proficiency in Romanian and English.
