A record breaking 2018 and our plans to make 2019 even better

We are certainly living in interesting times right now. Whether you are in favour of Brexit or against it, one thing I think that is unifying the British population is our collective dismay at how poorly our elected politicians are handling the process, whichever side of the House of Commons they sit on!!! The levels of uncertainty that businesses both big and small are facing is clearly not ideal for maximising growth and performance.
With this is mind, it was great to be able to present a very positive picture of Clear Edge’s performance in 2018 to colleagues at our AGM, held last week. Despite the uncertainty, we broke a number of records during the year. Key highlights included delivering record annual sales revenue, a senior consultant breaking the record for best sales in a year for an individual, a number of people securing promotions, and Clear Edge raising close to £1,300 for our 2018 charity partner – The Alzheimer’s Society. It was great to celebrate this success with everyone in the business present and to be able to look back fondly on some of the fun team building events we held throughout the year, such as a day of outdoor pursuits at Camp Hill. 2018 was a great year where some seriously talented people joined the business, bringing with them great attitudes, adding to what was already a fantastic working culture.
Whilst it was important to celebrate a successful 2018, it was just as important for us to lay out our plans and goals for 2019 and beyond. We continue to strive to become the UK’s number one FMCG recruitment partner of choice and have wide reaching expansion plans across all of our business units. The intention is to grow our headcount by upwards of 35% and offer a more diverse service to our clients, supporting them across all functions within their organisation. Aligned with this is the launch of Clear Edge Executive Search – a unique proposition that is concentrated on recruiting at board level and dedicated to the FMCG sector – thus complementing our core business which recruits at middle management levels. Further expansion of our Online Betting & Gaming division that was launched in 2017 is also a prime objective. This offers an exciting opportunity for the Clear Edge brand to break new boundaries. We aim to aggressively grow this venture during 2019 by looking to attract top recruitment talent from the IT / Technology sectors.
During 2019 we will continue to focus on offering an inclusive, fun, and rewarding working culture, where all colleagues can achieve their potential. This is why investment in our people will always be high on the agenda each year. Adding to our excellent in-house training department, all employees will have the opportunity to attend an externally provided course, relevant to their career level and needs. Throw into the mix some exciting sales incentives to reward success, along with some great team building events we have planned, then I am looking forward to 2019 with great optimism.
Last but certainly not least, it is with great pleasure that I can announce our chosen charity partner for 2019 – Leeds Mind, as chosen by all members of our business. We have a number of events planned throughout the year to support this great cause such as The Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge, Clear Edge Sports Day, Pub Quiz, and 10k runs amongst others. We will of course make further announcements closer to the time of these events and would be extremely grateful if you could support us and give generously to this great cause.
